5-HTP is a naturally occurring amino acid and the chemical precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin. In the seeds of Griffonia simplicifolia, there may be more compounds contributing to the possible effects than just the 5-HTP alone. For this reason we use a 30% extract, which is closer to using the raw seeds and may function better than 99% pure 5-HTP.
