Nettle Nettle (Urtica dioica) is more commonly known as "stinging nettle" due to the fine hairs on the leaves and stems that are painful to the touch. Despite its prickly demeanor, nettle has staked its claim in herbal tradition as both a culinary and beneficial herb, with the aerial parts of the plant being traditionally used to support joint health.
